In our commitment to shifting deficit narratives, we highlight stories of youth who choose to stay, return to Hawaiʻi, and contribute to our community in meaningful ways. This month, our spotlight shines on Vibrant Hawaiʻi Ambassadors, Amylia Rae Gandolf, Benjamin Rudo, Cienna Corpuz, Cole Fuertes, and Kalaʻi Manuel-Cortez, who stepped forward to host Nā Leo TV forums for both Hawaiʻi Mayoral and County Council Candidates.
Candidates shared their plans to expedite housing development, ensure public safety, and support a strong economy. Guided by our Grounding Statement, Ambassadors also asked the following questions:
"Have you ever had a conversation with someone experiencing homelessness, and if so, what did you learn from your conversation?"
"One part of Vibrant Hawaiʻi’s Grounding Statement says, “We value flexibility and learning that leads to transformation, and we demonstrate this by: Being honest without shame, when we don’t know.” What would you say you don’t know about the job of Mayor, and how will you address this gap?"
Mahalo nui loa to each of the candidates and to Ashley Kierkiewicz and the entire Nā Leo TV team for creating opportunities for youth to learn and engage in this important process.
