Vibrant Hawaiʻi’s Social Service Navigators have recently completed training and are now certified to assist community members with enrolling in the MedQuest insurance program. With this certification, they can to directly access the Department of Human Services (DHS) system to help individuals determine their eligibility for MedQuest, Hawaiʻi’s Medicaid program.
As part of a statewide network of “Kōkua” volunteers, Vibrant Hawaiʻi’s Navigators can now meet people where they are—whether at community events, schools, or workplaces. They provide personalized support, answer questions, and help with necessary document replacements, all while guiding individuals through the application process. This approach makes healthcare enrollment easier and more accessible, especially for those who might not be able to visit an office.
By meeting people where they are, Vibrant Hawaiʻi is helping to remove barriers to healthcare access, empowering individuals, and creating a more inclusive, supportive community where everyone has the opportunity to receive the care they need.
