CNHA Native Hawaiian Convention

From September 17-19, 2024, our team had the opportunity to attend the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement Convention at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. We participated in a variety of sessions, ranging from disaster preparedness to innovative approaches for supporting Native Hawaiian communities. We learned from key organizations, deepening our understanding of the important work being done to uplift and empower communities across Hawaiʻi.

Vibrant Hawaiʻi extends a heartfelt mahalo nui to HPM Building Supply and UHA Health Insurance for sponsoring our team's attendance.

“The CNHA conference helped me understand the struggles of the people I serve on a deeper level. I particularly enjoyed Kumu Hinaʻs workshop on ʻNative Hawaiian Leadershipʻ and how she over came the unfortunate barriers that transgender people face. Through her advocacy and leadership, she has not only inspired others but also become a well-known Kanaka leader, making a lasting impact on her lāhui”  Kealoha Nitta, Kona Social Service Navigator.

"Attending the 2024 CNHA Native Hawaiian Convention was a powerful experience. Being surrounded by fellow kanaka and sharing space with influential leaders highlighted the strength in our community and our collective commitment to serving our people. Each session grounded me and served as a reminder that our path forward is rooted in our past. Witnessing Native Hawaiians occupying critical spaces in housing, organizational leadership, health, and ʻāina was both inspiring and motivating. I look forward to participating again next year" Amylia Gandolf, Vibrant Hawaiʻi Ambassador.
